I am a mom to three little munchkins all under the ages of 5. Two are still in diapers and my days are hectic to say the least. My morning ritual can either make or break my entire day. Here are some tips to help kick start my day and get it off on the right foot.
Grab Some Healthy Grub
The best way to start your day off right is with a healthy and nutrient packed breakfast. If can be tempting to pop open a bag of donuts and call it breakfast, but those empty calories will do you no favors in a few hours. Therefore, pick breakfast items that are packed with lots of vitamins, minerals, and energy-building nutrients.
Oatmeal served with some apply slices and a glass of OJ can be the perfect start to your morning.
If you are feeling extra fancy try poaching some eggs and serving it with a side of turkey bacon and a glass of orange juice. Another one of my breakfast favorites is homemade granola bars. Check out my favorite recipes here on Social Moms.
Skip on the processed foods. They are empty, will make you feel bloated, and will certainly not help keep your energy up throughout the day. A mid-morning snack is actually okay and encouraged! Eat a healthy breakfast then if you get hungry a few hours later do not deprive yourself. Instead munch on some fruit or grab another glass of OJ for an energy boost.
When you are feeling tired the worst thing you can do is deprive yourself of food. You need those healthy calories to help you make it through the day.
Skip The Snooze
I know an extra 10 minutes can be very tempting, but set your alarm clock and get to hopping. The first snooze only leads to a second and third. It is a downward spiral. I PROMISE if you just get those feet on the floor and make your way to your kitchen for a healthy pick-me-up you will be fine!
Create Healthy Habits
Create a morning routine that you follow to a tee. This will help keep you motivated. If you wake up at 8:00am, eat some breakfast, brush your teeth, get in the shower, put on your clothes, and then wake the kids, do it the same way every morning (EVEN WEEKENDS). It will make the process much easier.
I know it can be hard for the first couple days (or sometimes weeks) but one you have a schedule you will easily be able to stick to it.
Now since we have talked about starting off on a healthy note, let's talk OJ. I am an advocate of organic foods and produce, but sometimes due to price it is just not an option. When I can't purchase organic OJ I opt for Tropicana. There are some reasons why:
- Tropicana Pure Premium is 100% Pure Florida Orange Juice.
- Tropicana is the single largest buyer of Florida fruit, purchasing approximately 11.6 billion oranges from Florida each year.
- Tropicana uses groves in 22 different Florida counties, primarily in central and southern Florida.
- The different microclimates and soil types mean that fruit reaches peak maturity at different times, allowing Tropicana to harvest ripe fruit throughout the entire growing season.
- The two major orange types in Tropicana Pure Premium are Valencia and Hamlin. Valencias typically have more intense color and flavor, while Hamlins can be sweeter. They each add unique characteristics to the TPP blend.
- Many Florida growers sample oranges by cutting them into a cup shape, allowing for drinking juice directly from the fruit.
- Tropicana’s roots in Florida go back a long way. Some of its current grower relationships date to the 1960s.
