Diaper Rebellion 2011

My 17 month old has decided he wants to be a nudist. Within minutes of putting his diaper on, he has taken it off and run away in the buff. This has happened consistently for the past three days. What is a mom to do? Do you force the diaper on him, or just let it go?

I prefer to not have to clean up pee all over the house, so I have opted for finding a way to keep the diaper on his little booty. First, I switched from aplix to snap closures to see if his little fingers would have a harder time getting those undone. It worked briefly. He then began picking and picking at the snaps until he figured out how to undo those too!

Fear not though! I figured out the trick. Backwards diapers!! I have been putting the diapers on backwards, with the snaps or aplix in the back instead of the front. No more nudist! He doesn't see the closures so he doesn't try to undo them. Now we have a slightly funny looking diaper, but not pee on the floor. All-in-all I think it was a success.

  1. I had to get creative with my twins awhile back. They wore disposables and were always taking them off. Here's a link to my blog post about, including a video of my solution. http://the-duke-family.blogspot.com/2011/02/no-tape.html

  2. gDiapers has the tabs in the back, which I thought was genius but I forgot about it until seeing this post! I may need to use this...my 16 month old is in the same phase. If only it meant he wanted to use the toilet...

  3. Yeah the gdiapers tabs are in the back but they are aplix. I own a couple of those covers and he can get them off in no time. It has to be SNAPS on backwards. It looks a little funny, but is actually not THAT noticeable unless you point it out.
